The 2020 Annual President’s Report is the 8th on the measures taken and progress achieved in the realisation of national values and principles of governance in conformity with the Constitution. This is pursuant to the provisions of Article 132(1)(c)(i)(ii) which requires H.E. the President to report once every year in an address to the nation on all measures taken and the progress achieved in the realisation of national values and principles of governance. &#13;
The Report comprises of five chapters that outline the measures taken and progress achieved by the Government in the promotion of national values and principles of governance in the public sector. The measures and progress are in the context of key projects, programmes, activities as well as policies, legal, institutional and administrative actions taken by MCDAs in compliance with Article 10 of the Constitution.

<summary type="text">4th Annual Report 2016 on Measures Taken and Progress Achieved in the Realization of National Values and Principles of Governance
The Constitution in Article 4(2) provides that the Republic of Kenya shall be a multi-party democratic state founded on the National Values and Principles of Governance. My Government continues to strengthen democracy and requisite institutions. Article 10 (1) binds all State Organs, State Officers, Public Officers and all persons whenever they: Apply or interpret the Constitution; Enact, apply or interpret any law; and or make, or implement public policy decisions. Article 10(2) of the Constitution&#13;
outlines the National Values and Principles of Governance, which include: Patriotism; national unity; sharing and devolution of power; the rule of law; democracy and participation of the people; human dignity; equity; social justice; inclusiveness; equality; human rights; non-discrimination and protection of the marginalized; good governance; integrity; transparency and accountability; and sustainable development. In fulfilment of Article 132(1)(c)(i) and (ii) the 2016 Annual President’s Report assesses the measures taken and the progress achieved by my Government in the realization of National Values and Principles of&#13;
Governance and highlights commitments and the way forward towards&#13;
their promotion.

This Report is pursuant to Article 132(1)(c)(i) that requires the President to report annually on all the measures taken and the progress achieved in the realization of the National Values and Principles of Governance, referred to in Article 10. The National Values and Principles of Governance as enshrined in Article 10(1) bind all State organs, State officers, public officers and all persons whenever any of them: applies or interprets the Constitution; enacts, applies or interprets any law; or makes, or implements public policy decisions. Further, Article 10(2) of the Constitution highlights the National Values and Principles of Governance, which include: (a) patriotism, national unity, sharing and devolution of power, the rule of law, democracy and participation of the people; (b) human dignity, equity, social justice, inclusiveness, equality, human rights, non-discrimination&#13;
and protection of the marginalized; (c) good governance, integrity, transparency and accountability; and (d) sustainable development. The objective of this Report is to assess the extent to which public institutions implemented the National Values and Principles of Governance during the year under review. The Report further highlights Government commitments and the way forward in the realisation of the National Values and Principles of Governance.

The 2014 Annual President’s Report on Measures Taken and Progress Achieved in the Realisation of National Values and Principles of Governance broadly underscores values as deep-seated beliefs that should guide the day to day interactions of all Kenyans and the Government. The national values and principles of governance under Article 10 of the Constitution should therefore enable the people of Kenya to define who they are and what they stand for, and the process towards attaining Vision 2030. The 2014 Annual Report is the second report on the measures taken and progress achieved in the realisation of national values and principles of governance in conformity with the Kenya Constitution, 2010. Article 132 (1) (c) (i and ii) requiresHis Excellency the President to once every year report in an address to the nation, on all the measures taken and the progress achieved in the realisation of national values and principle of governance. The Report comprises six chapters that illustrate how far the Government progressed towards realizing the commitments made in the First Annual President’s Report of 2013. Further, the Report analyses the policy, legal, institutional and administrative frameworks that were put in place to enhance the promotion of national values and principles of governance in the public sector. <summary type="text">1st Annual Report 2014 on Measures Taken and Progress Achieved in the Realisation of National Values and Principles of Governance
This is the first annual reporting on the realisation of national values and principles of governance in Kenya. The objective of this annual reporting, that is enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 is to identify and document the measures taken, progress achieved, challenges faced in the realisation of national values and principles of governance by the respective public institutions. Further, the report will provide direction, strategies and interventions that will enhance the promotion of the same. The national values and principles of governance are fundamental norms and beliefs of Kenyans that guide choices, actions, relations and behaviours of citizens. They are the foundation upon which the realisation of Kenya’s national interests is pegged. Specifically, this report analyses the policy, legal, institutional and administrative frameworks in relation to the realisation of national values and principles of governance in the public sector. Further, it highlights recommendations made by different public institutions to enhance the implementation processes in the realisation of national values and principles of governance.
