<description>Malindi District Development Plan 2002-2008
The District Development Plan (DDP) for the period 2002-2008 was prepared by the District Departmental Heads of various Ministries under the coordination of the District Commissioner (DC) assisted by the District Development Officer (DDO) and members of the District Planning Team. The Plan is a product of broad-based consultations among various stakeholders undertaken in each of the sixty-nine districts in the country. It has been prepared in the backdrop of the theme of the 9th National Development Plan, which is "Effective Management for Sustainable Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction ". The DDP articulates medium term policies and objectives, which are further translated into short-term strategies and prograrmne to be implemented under the Medium. Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). The latter is part of the budgetary reforms undertaken to strengthen the linkage between policy., planning and budgeting. <description>Kilifi District Development Plan 2008-2012
Kilifi District is one of the districts in Coast Province. The district lies between 3° 16. South and&#13;
about 4° South, and 39° 05· East and 40° East. The District has seven Divisions namely Bahari,&#13;
Chonyi, Kikambala, Ganze, Jaribuni, Vitengeni and Bamba Divisions. It has 27 locations and 86&#13;
. sub-locations. K.ilifi District is subdivided into 2 political constituencies namely Bahari&#13;
(comprising Bahari, Chonyi and Kikambala Divisions) and Ganze (comprising of Ganze,&#13;
Bamba, Jaribuni and Vitengeni Divisions).&#13;
The District has four major topographical features which include the narrow belt which forms&#13;
the coastal plain and varies in width of 3km to 20km; foot plateau which falls between 60m and&#13;
150m altitude and slopes towards the sea; the coastal range which falls beyond the foot plateau&#13;
and has distinct low range of sandstone hills and ranges between 150m to 500m high and the&#13;
Nyika Plateau that rises from 100m to 340m above sea level and occupies about two thirds of the&#13;
district area.&#13;
The average annual rainfall ranges from 400mm in the hinterland to 1,200mm at the coastal belt.&#13;
The coastal belt receives an average annual rainfall of about 900mm to I, I 00mm with marked&#13;
decrease in intensity to the hinterland. Areas with highest rainfall include Mtwapa and to the&#13;
north of the coastal strip around the Arabuko Sokoke Forest.
