In 2017, a ruling by the court reinstated 10th of October as a public holiday in line with the Public Holidays Act. As from 2020, this day was renamed to Huduma Day to commemorate and promote service and volunteerism in Kenya.

After the promulgation of the 2010 constitution of Kenya, Kenyatta day was renamed to Mashujaa day.
