<description>Speech by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H., During The 59th Madaraka Day on June 1, 2022
Today, I am delighted to return to these hallowed grounds of Uhuru Gardens to commemorate our 59th Madaraka Day. I am overjoyed because, after 59 years of self-rule, this is the first time we are celebrating Madaraka Day at these hallowed grounds. Madaraka Day is significant in our history because it is on this day in June 1963 that the Founding Fathers of our nation replaced the outgoing colonial government and formed the first indigenous Government of Kenya

<description>Speech by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H., on Jamhuri Day, December 12, 2021
Fellow Kenyans Today, I am indeed delighted and privileged to host the 57th Jamhuri Day celebrations here at Uhuru Gardens, the People’s Garden. This is the exact place where the Union Jack of the British colonizer was lowered, and our National Flag hoisted on the midnight of December 12, 1963. And as we hoisted our National Flag here at the People’s Garden in Nairobi, a hero by the name of Kisoi Munyao raised the same flag at midnight of Independence Day at the peak of Mount Kenya

<description>Speech by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H., on Mashujaa Day, October 20, 2021
This is the tenth time we are celebrating our nationhood, identity, and diversity away from the capital city of Nairobi. We have previously marked National Days in the following other Counties: Kisumu, Kisii, Nakuru, Kakamega, Narok, Nyeri, Machakos, Meru and Mombasa. &#13;
Today we gather here in the county of Kirinyaga, to celebrate the Makers of our Nation. We celebrate all the men and women who laid the foundation stones of our nation. We also commend all those Kenyans who made and continue to make extra-ordinary contributions to bring our nation closer to her destiny of being a better, more just, more equitable, and more prosperous nation for all.

<description>Speech by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H., During The 54th Madaraka Day on June 1 2017.
Today, we celebrate our right to govern ourselves. That right was not given to us; we fought for it. Nyeri, this county of heroes, gave us some of our most valiant warriors. Our monumental victory in the war of liberation from the colonial government was achieved because we had men and women who, on their own volition, sacrificed their lives so that we would be free to govern ourselves.

<description>Speech by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H., on Jamhuri Day, December 12, 2018
Distinguished Guests, My Fellow Kenyans, Fifty-five years ago today, our beautiful flag was hoisted for the first time; announcing our pride in the independence we had won. It embraced our identity as a free people, recalled the sacrifices that had been made to win our freedom, and laid claim to our blessed land. Our national anthem was heard for the first time, praying for unity, peace, justice, and liberty; and then calling us to serve and defend our motherland.

<description>Speech by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H., on Mashujaa Day, October 20, 2019
Distinguished guests, My fellow Kenyans, I wish to thank the people of Mombasa in particular, and the coast region in general, for the warm welcome you have accorded me and other visitors from across the country. To foster nationhood; a few years ago, my administration made the decision to celebrate national days on a rotational basis. In this way we celebrate the diversity of the nation and show that while we are many, we are one. One Nation - One People. This new tradition also allows us to appreciate the rich diversity of our country, and, in particular, the positive contributions being made under our devolved structure of governance. In addition, it gives the hosting county the rare opportunity to showcase itself on the national stage.
