The 7th West Pokot District Development Plan (DDP) for the period 2002-2008 was prepared by the District Departmental Heads of various Ministries under the coordination of the District Commissioner (DC) assisted by the District Development Officer (ODO) and members of the District Planning Team. The Plan is a product of broad-based consultations among various. It has been prepared in the backdrop of the theme of the 9th National Development Plan, which is "Effective Management for Sustainable Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction ". The West Pokot DDP articulates medium term policies and objectives, which are further translated into short-term strategies and programmes to be implemented under the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). The latter is part of the budgetary. reforms undertaken to strengthen the linkage between policy, planning and budgeting. The Rural Planning Department of the Ministry of Finance and Planning provided the overall guidance through seminars and training workshops and was responsible for the formulation of guidelines, editing and publication of the Plan. <description>Pokot Central District Development Plan 2008-2012
The 8th District Development Plan (DDP) for the period 2008-2012 was prepared by the&#13;
District Planning and Monitoring Unit in close collaboration with members of the&#13;
various Sector Working Groups (SWGs). Considerable effort was made by members of&#13;
the District Sector Working Groups (DSWGs) who produced sectors draft plans that&#13;
formed the basis for this final document. The office of the District Commissioner and the&#13;
District Development Committees provided overall oversight and the subsequent&#13;
approval of the Plan.&#13;
The DDP is a product of broad-based and participatory consultations among a crosssection of stakeholders undertaken in each of the 148 districts as at October 2008. Other&#13;
development actors in the district were involved in detailed discussions and preparations&#13;
of the material content that formed integral parts of the final DDPs.
