dc.description.abstract | This Sessional Paper has been prepared in response to issues raised in various public forums; debates in Parliament on the Privatization Bill; and recent deliberations between the Minister for Finance and the Finance and Trade Committee of Parliament on the Privatization Bill. These deliberations have clearly indicated that although Government policy on privatization exists in various forms including Cabinet Papers and Minutes, the same has not been shared adequately with some key stakeholders including Parliament. The paper is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter the paper discusses the historical background and rationale for establishment of State Corporations and performance review. The Second chapter covers the implementation of the first phase of the privatization programme and weaknesses identified during the implementation of this phase. Chapter three covers the NARC Government's privatization policy including the proposed institutional framework. | en_US |
