dc.description.abstract | Wajir North district is one of the new districts that were curved out of Wajir District in North Eastern Province. It borders Wajir East to the East, Wajir West to the South, Moyale to the West, Republic of Ethiopia to the North and Mandera West District to the North East. It lies between the latitudes 3°20N and 2° I 8N and longitude 39°E and 40°1 SE. It is divided into 3 divisions, 15 locations and 18 sub locations with a total area of 10,958 Km2 • Buna Division is the largest with a total area of 7500Km2 while Bute division which holds the district headquarters is the smallest with a total area of 1078Km2.Wajir North District is a plain, which is prone to flooding during the rainy seasons, often making roads impassable. In the North there are scattered hills along the Ethiopian border. The district is mostly covered with young sedimentary rocks with loamy soils towards the North at the footsteps of the Ethiopian Highlands. The District has neither rivers nor lakes but seasonal swamps. | en_US |
