    Abstract/Overview

    In Sessional Paper No. 10 of 1980, the Government announced its acceptance of the recommendation of the Civil Service Review Committee, 1979/80, inter alia, that Civil Service salaries should be reviewed regularly so as to maintain the morale and thereby the productivity of civil servants. The Civil Service Salaries Review Committee, 1985 was appointed under Gazette Notice No. 1 of 1985 to examine the existing structure of salaries and related fringe benefits and to recommend what changes may be necessary, having particular regard to: The rise in the cost of living since the last salary review in 1980; The need to provide incentives that would attract and retain qualified personnel in the Civil Service, taking into account the general economic circumstances prevailing in the country.
