Abstract/ Overview
During the past few years, the Highlands Board has approved number of transfers of land which involve amendments to the boundaries of the Highlands described in the Seventh Schedule to the Crown Lands Ordinance. There was provision in law for altering the boundaries of the Highlands until the enactment of the Crown Lands (Amendment) Ordinance, 1954 (No. 7 of 1955). It is, however, now possible for the Governor, with the consent of the Highlands Board, and subject lo the approval of the Legislative Council, by notice in the Gazette to adjust the boundaries of the Highlands. In Sessional Paper No. 47 of 1956, which was approved by Legislative Council on 15th February. 1956, a number of adjustments were made to boundaries of the Highlands. The present Sessional Paper contains some further amendments to the boundaries which have been agreed by the Highlands Board.
