Tana River County Social Protection Sectoral Plan 2018-2028

Abstract

The Social Protection, Culture and Recreation Sector comprises six programmes namely; Administrative and Support Services, Culture, Arts and Heritage Development, Children Protection, Social Development, Sports Development-and Youth Empowerment. The sector envisions a globally competitive workforce, sports, culture and recreation industry, and a resilient equitable and informed society. Major achievements during the MTEF period 2015/16 - 2017/18 include: Increased financial support to Older Persons, PWDs, OVCs and food-insecure households through cash transfer programmes; provision of assistive and supportive devices to PWDs; distribution of relief food to food insecure persons, investment in drought preparedness and resilience; rescue and rehabilitation of street families; provision of support to vulnerable children; and capacity building for youth, women and PWDs on entrepreneurship
