Circulars on Motion on house allowance for members of county assemblies, 2019

Abstract

The attention of SRC has been drawn to communication from the County Assemblies Forum vide letter Ref. No. CAF/GC/005/19-20 dated 29th July, 2019 to all County Assemblies advising the Assemblies to facilitate tabling of a motion on 30th July, 2019 on payment of house allowance to Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) and to have the motion moved on 31st July 2019. Further, SRC has noted that some County Assemblies have scheduled the said Motion in their Order papers. SRC reiterates the contents of its letter Ref. No: SRC/TS/CGOVT/3/61 VOL V (23)(copy attached) dated 28th June, 2019 advising the County Assemblies that the setting and review of House Allowance is the exclusive mandate of SRC as provided in Article 230(4) of the Constitution.
