Abstract

The Kenya Micro and Small Enterprises Policy for Promoting Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) for Wealth and Employment Creation introduces a policy aimed at developing Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in Kenya, which are important for providing job and income opportunities for economically excluded segments of the population. Despite past policy interventions, there are still challenges hindering the development of the sector, such as access to finance, markets, technology, and the regulatory environment. The policy's goal is to create an enabling business environment for the growth and development of productive MSEs in Kenya. Ten objectives were identified, including the promotion of an entrepreneurial culture, capacity development, access to markets and finance, facilitation of start-ups, and regulation at national and county levels. The policy interventions seek to enhance the competitiveness, productivity, and sustainability of MSEs to contribute to the country's socio-economic development.
