dc.description.abstract | Kenya has faced complex land management and administration issues due to the lack of a clearly defined National Land Policy and the existence of incompatible land laws. This has led to disparities in land ownership, poverty, and environmental, social, economic, and political problems. To address these issues, the government formulated a National Land Policy through a consultative process involving stakeholders from public, private, and civil society. The policy provides a framework for addressing critical land administration issues, access to land, land use planning, environmental degradation, conflicts, informal settlements, legal and institutional frameworks, and information management. It recognizes and protects customary and private land rights, encourages multi-sectoral land use, and facilitates sustainable conservation and utilization of land-based resources. The policy aims to guide Kenya towards efficient, sustainable, and equitable use of land for prosperity and posterity. | en |
