Abstract

President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jamhuri Day 2021 address commemorated Kenya's 58th Independence Anniversary and 57th Republic Celebration at Uhuru Gardens, a historic site symbolizing the nation's liberation journey. ​ He reflected on Kenya's milestones to independence and becoming a Republic, emphasizing the importance of remembering the sacrifices of liberation fighters while using history to guide the future. ​ He outlined plans to transform Uhuru Gardens into a national museum to honor Kenya's heroes and preserve its history. Stressing the significance of unity and teamwork in nation-building, he highlighted past efforts to address national challenges, including constitutional amendments and the 2018 handshake with Raila Odinga. ​ Looking forward, he called for bold imagination to shape Kenya's future, envisioning Vision 2063 as a path to shared prosperity. ​ He also announced a 30% reduction in electricity costs and concluded by urging Kenyans to embrace service to others, wishing the nation a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.
