dc.description.abstract | The demand for higher education' in Kenya exceeds the supply, as manifested in the large amount of
money spent by Kenyan students pursuing higher education abroad, and the inability of local higher
education, institutions to absorb all qualified candidates. Demand for higher education is expected to
increase further as a result of the Free Primary Education programme implemented in 2002, and which has led to increased enrolment in primary schools. Government allocations to higher education in Kenya are not sufficient to meet the increased demand for quality higher education. There is urgent need, therefore, to promote private sector participation in the provision of higher education in Kenya. | en |
