Kwale District Development Plan 1997-2001

Abstract

The Kwale District Development Plan, was created by District Departmental Heads from various ministries under the coordination of the District Commissioner, and assisted by the District Planning Unit. The plan was approved by the District Development Committee and guided by the Rural Planning Department of the Office of the Vice President and Ministry of Planning and National Development. The plan is divided into three chapters with the theme of "Rapid Industrialization for Sustainable Development." Chapter One provides background information on the district's resources and infrastructure, Chapter Two outlines strategies for achieving industrialization, and Chapter Three lists prioritized projects and programs for the 1997-2001 plan period. The drafting of the plan was guided by relevant national and sectoral policy documents, including Sessional Paper No. 1 of 1994.
