dc.description.abstract | The Tana River District Development Plan was prepared by the District Departmental Heads of various ministries under the coordination of the District Commissioner and the District Planning Unit. The plan was approved by the District Executive Committee and the District Development Committee. The Rural Planning Department provided overall guidance and was responsible for editing and publication of the plan. The plan focuses on the theme of "Rapid Industrialization for Sustainable Development" and is divided into three chapters. Chapter One provides background information on the natural and human resource base of the district, while Chapter Two outlines the major constraints to industrialization and strategies to achieve rapid industrialization.
