Abstract/ Overview
The National Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Policy has been developed in Kenya in line with international standards and the Constitution of Kenya, with the objective of achieving a fair, transparent, and cost-effective public procurement and asset disposal system. The policy provides guidance on various aspects of the procurement system, including procurement planning, processing, inventory, asset management, disposal, and contract management. It aims to address perennial concerns such as mis-procurement, delayed payments, and inflated costs, with the goal of achieving value for money. The policy also promotes the participation of disadvantaged and marginalized groups, as well as local industries, in public procurement, while stimulating economic activity and investment in local solutions. The Kenyan government is fully committed to the implementation of the policy, which recognizes the critical role played by key stakeholders in the procurement system.
