Laikipia County Integrated Development Plan 2023-2027

Abstract

The County Government Act, 2012, Section 104, requires the county governments to formulate the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), which forms the basis for budgeting and appropriation of funds within the County. The Act also requires the county planning framework to integrate economic, physical, social, environmental and spatial planning and promote public participation. The Laikipia County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023-2027 is the third development blue print for the county. It outlines the process through which efforts at national and devolved levels of government and other relevant public institutions shall be coordinated at the local level to bring about economic and social development in order to meet the needs of the local communities. The Plan reflects the aspirations of the Kenya Vision 2030 and the MTP IV. It provides a detailed description of the development issues, strategies, the county’s resource potential and offers a basis for resource mobilization and allocation. In formulating the CIDP, extensive stakeholder engagement was key in identifying the developmental needs, priorities, development strategies and programmes for implementation in the period 2023-2027.
