Wajir Municipality Annual Investment Plan and Budget 2024/2025

Abstract

Wajir Municipality is a semi-autonomous County Government Agency under the Department of Lands, Spatial Planning and Urban Development. The municipality is mainly responsible for delivery of municipal functions and services as per the Urban Areas and Cities Act (UACA), 2011 as amended 2019 and Wajir Municipal charter in ddition to implementing Wajir Town spatial plan, Wajir Municipal Integrated Development plan (2019-2024) that provides for the basis of preparing the municipality urban investment Plan. The plan is a tool for implementing the municipal integrated development plan and provides linkage with county planning framework. The Wajir Municipal Annual Investment Plan and budget 2023/2024 has been prepared through a consultative process. It was prepared by representatives of the department of Lands, Spatial Planning and Urban Development, Wajir Municipality and Finance and Economic Planning. It was prepared from the discussion of the Citizen engagement forums held on 23rd March, 2023 at ICT Hall for priority setting for FY 2023/24. Various stakeholders representing the municipal residents, youths, women and persons representing special groups, the County Assembly, the County Executive and National Government (MDAs) were present at the forum. The plan draws from the third Generation County Integrated Development Plan 2023-2027 and the projects identified during the plan making process has been captured in the County Budget estimates for the Financial Year 2023/2024.
