dc.description.abstractThe Corona virus disease (COVID-19), which was first reported in Wuhan China in December 2019, has since spread rapidly to almost every part of the world. The disease was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the 11th March 2020 due to the alarming rate of increase in number of new cases and fatalities reported. In Kenya the first incidence of the disease was reported on March 13th 2020 and mitigation measures were put in place to curb the disease spread. COVID-19 pandemic not only threatens people’s health, but also threatens food security and nutrition for millions of people across the world. Food security depend on availability, accessibility, utilization and stability, any disruption of these pillars renders populations food insecure. The social and economic strain brought about by the mitigation measures has potential to impact negatively of the four tenets of food security thus rendering people food insecure.en
