Abstract

The Lamu District Development Plan aimed at achieving "Rapid Industrialization for Sustained Development". The plan was developed by District Departmental Heads of various ministries, coordinated by the District Commissioner and assisted by the District Planning Unit. The Rural Planning Department of the Office of the Vice President and Ministry of Planning and National Development provided overall guidance, edited and published the plan. The plan is divided into three chapters which provide background information on the district's resources and infrastructure, outlines major constraints to industrialization and strategies to achieve it, and lists the major projects and programs to be implemented during the plan period. The drafting of the plan was guided by relevant national and sectoral policy documents.
