Abstract/ Overview
The Policy on Information and Communication Technology in Education and Training highlights the importance of quality education in achieving Kenya's Vision 2030 and producing globally competitive human capital. The government has heavily invested in education, including Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) to ensure that quality education is accessible, relevant, and equitable to all. The National Education Sector Plan (NESSP), 2018-2022 acknowledges ICT as a priority area to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No 4. The policy provides a framework for the implementation of ICT in education and training across all levels to enhance access to ICT infrastructure, provision of adequate and appropriate digital resources, enhance capacity of teachers, trainers and lecturers, as well as enhance research and innovation. The ultimate goal is to develop digital literacy and competencies among learners and trainees. Successful implementation of this policy will require concerted efforts from all education providers, implementers, and stakeholders.
