dc.description.abstract | The County Assembly of Kiambu is the main legislative arm of the county government with the mandate to legislate, oversee the county executive, and represent the people of the county. In the MTEF period from 2018/19 to 2020/21, the Assembly approved a budget totaling Kshs. 1.255 billion, Kshs. 1.194 billion, and Kshs. 1.299 billion, respectively, with a mean absorption rate of 85%. The Assembly achieved significant milestones during this period, including legislation enactment, oversight on public resources utilization, and capacity building for members and staff. The main challenges encountered were delayed releases and implementation of capital projects and the Covid-19 pandemic. In the MTEF period 2022/23 – 2024/25, the Assembly requires funding to execute its mandate effectively and efficiently, including construction of ward offices, enactment of Bills, capacity building, enhanced public participation, and policy development and review. | en |
