dc.description.abstract | Kitui County Nutrition Action Plan (KNAP) 2019–2023 is an evidence-based five-year strategic action plan that
seeks to address malnutrition in the county in all its forms. It is a Costed Action Plan for the implementation of
the Kenya Food and Nutrition Security Policy (FNSP) and borrows a lot from County Integrated Development
Plan, County Health Sector Strategic Plan and Sector Annual Works Plans. The Kenya Vision 2030, the Big Four
Agenda, together with the overall global health and nutrition agenda within the framework of the constitution
and legal framework, formed the over-arching guidance for the development of KCNAP. The plan promotes
cross-sectoral collaboration to address the social determinants of malnutrition sustainably. The overall expected
result of the KCNAP is a malnutrition free Kitui County.
The KCNAP development process was driven by county government through the County Ministry of Health
and Sanitation, the Nutrition Sub Sector. The process involved wide consultation with all key stakeholders
including: county government line ministries, development partners and donor agencies, and the private
sector. The process was evidence-informed through desktop literature review of KHIS, Nutrition SMART
surveys, Knowledge Attitude Practice and Behaviour (KAPB) Survey, Kenya Demographic Health Survey,
Nutrition Capacity Assessment and other health and nutrition research. | en |
