Abstract/ Overview
The Taita Taveta County District Development Plan is designed to strengthen district planning as a fundamental element of the District Focus for Rural Development Strategy (DFRD). The plan aims to establish an effective bottom-up delivery system that promotes two-way communication between the community and development partners at both the district and national levels. To enhance its effectiveness, the plan emphasizes active community involvement in all stages of project and program planning, including selection, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. However, achieving this requires significant investments in training and capacity building, particularly in participatory methodologies and decentralized service delivery. The plan also focuses on establishing district information systems, with the District Information and Documentation Centre (DIDC) and District Planning Unit (DPU) playing crucial roles. The Rural Planning Department, in collaboration with development partners, is committed to actively pursuing these initiatives.
