dc.description.abstract | The basis of the County Public Service Board’s existence is Article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, which
gave rise to the enactment of the County Governments Act, 2012. The Board is established under Section 57 of the
said Act as a body corporate with perpetual succession capable of suing and being sued. Section 59 (1) of the CGA
provides the following as the functions of the Board:
a. Establish and abolish offices in the County Public Service and appoint persons to hold or act in offices of
the County Public Service including in the Boards of cities and urban areas within the County and confirm
appointments. This includes engagement of interns, casuals and temporary staff.
b. Exercise disciplinary control over, and remove, persons holding or acting in those offices as provided for
under the Act.
c. Prepare regular reports for submission to the County Assembly on the execution of the functions of the
Board.
d. Promote Inter-County Public Service Values and Principles referred to under Articles 10 and 232 of the
Constitution, 2010. | |
