dc.description.abstract | After a couple of years of fiscal prudence and restraint Tharaka Nithi County is embarking on an unprecedented period of investment.
Consultation on the County’s Draft Annual Development Plan for 2014-2015 included an opportunity for the departments in each of the nine (9) dockets to submit their planned projects after consultation with relevant stakeholders, more so on some of the largest projects the county anticipates to undertake. We received an unprecedented number of written submissions with detailed information on each project.
A clear direction for the county has been set, which has carefully balanced our reputation for financial prudence and an Annual Development Plan of future-focused development.
With more than 30 new or expanded projects included in this year’s Annual Development Plan it is an exciting time for our County.
Major projects to be undertaken include:

Investment and upgrade of our major towns and urban areas to modern status, which bare the heritage of the County. The county intends to invest in urban infrastructure including access roads, drainages, waste management, Construction of bus parks,street-lighting, modern conference halls, beautification and landscaping among others;
The extension of County’s economic development incentives in sectors of agriculture, industry and trade for foreseeable future to stimulate growth in these sectors. The incentives will focus on promotion of banana, coffee and alternative crops production, development of market centres as well as support of locally based industries........ | en |
