The overarching goal of the plan is to accelerate attainment of health impact targets as defined in the Health Policy, 2014 - 2030 and contribute to the attainment of Departmental Vision of having ‘A County free from preventable diseases and ill health.’ The strategies detailed in this document have been thought through and designed in a manner that contributes, wherever possible, to Kenya Vision 2030, the broader, longer-term country development agenda. The plan has mainstreamed the health-related Sustainable Development Goals and cross-cutting issues of gender equality and social protection. The second Samburu County Health Sector Strategic and Investment Plan (SCHSSIP II) for 2018- 2022 will guide the department’s strategic directions and priorities over the coming five years. It highlights key areas where the department seeks to make significant improvements in the delivery of health services. The priorities under each programme area have been set within the context of emerging challenges and opportunities presented by a devolved health system. The plan emphasizes improving the county’s response to the prevailing disease burden and maintaining a focus on vulnerable populations and highlights key areas where to target investments for optimal impact in the coming five years.en
