Abstract/ Overview
The Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and 169 targets which are an urgent call for action by all developed and developing countries. With the end of the MDGs era, the Agenda 2030 offered the foundation for the realization of a world without extreme want, which is the future wanted by humanity. The Agenda seeks to balance the three dimensions of sustainable development; the economic, social and environmental. Since the adoption of the Agenda, Kenya has witnessed remarkable progress towards implementation of the SDGs. According to the UN Sustainable Development Report 2022, Kenya is on track in the implementation of SDGs 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 13 (Climate Action), and there is moderate improvement on SDGs 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and 14 (Life Below Water).
